help relieve pain, increase the patient's strength,
and decrease or prevent deformity and crippling. They
help administer manual exercises to improve and maintain
function in their patients. A physical therapist will
work with a patient until they know that the patient
is progressing on a path to recovery, this can be several
weeks to months depending on the illness or injury.
