One of the top growing fields is marketing. It has also
become a popular major, attracting creative and artist
people. Advertisers and promotions managers plan and
direct advertising policies and program or produce collateral
materials, such as posters, contests, coupons, or giveaways,
to create extra interest in the purchase of a product
or service for department, an entire organization, or
on an account basis.
Advertising is all about generating
more income, so people that are in the field have to
come up with creative ways of attracting more customers.
This can be done through many channels, such as mail,
TV, cold calling, print, internet, and many different
forms of advertising. Classes in marketing teach the
basic skills needed to work in an advertising or marketing
company. Students learn how to convert their target
audience into sales. They learn about techniques that
work, and those that don't. Many people in marketing
continue onto becoming a sales manager. Some budgeting
skills are required for marketing positions, since you
will want to make a profit on your advertisements.
