Online education connects students and teachers onto a network, or website where they can interact and learn. Lectures, assignments, exams, and instructions are presented online so that registered students can access their class work at any time. Online courses are taught using a variety of methods. In most approaches students interact online in a chat environment, or a discussion board with their teachers or other students. This is a real time environment just like a traditional classroom. However, unlike traditional learning, classes can often be held at the student's convenience -24/7, with no commute.

Is Online Education Effective?
In multiple studies of non-traditional forms of teaching, such as distance learning have proven that there is no significant differences in a student's ability to learn the material. These studies were based on exam results given to online students and traditional students. The perception of courses taken online is also improving. In fact, many employers now view successful distance learners as more self-sufficient than their campus bound counterparts. Online students are self-motivated, independent, and technologically savvy, all the attributes that employers look for.
